Professional Training That Doesn’t Suck
Participate in unique trainings for your professional development that are designed for clinicians who are sick of basic, boring trainings.
We’ve all been to bad trainings.
Maybe it’s the one that you’re required to take but it is dry as a saltine.
Maybe it’s a training you’re excited for the content, but someone’s knowledge and clinical skills don’t always translate to being a good training facilitator.
Regardless of the reason it’s maddening to pay hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars to be underwhelmed and bored.
You know the trainings I’m talking about. The ones where…
One or two people standing in the front of the room, lecturing for hours with a slide deck.
You’re immediately checked out because they said “Good Morning” and when not enough people said it back they said, “Let’s try that again, GOOD MORNING”…
There’s supposed to be an experiential learning component, but the lecture went long and the practical application piece is cut short or completely missed.
There’s a few people that came together and when you split off into smaller groups you’re stuck with people who all know each other, don’t want to be there, and aren’t interested in doing the small group activity.
The content is good but it’s organized in a weird way and the flow is off.
You’re in the back of a big room and the microphone screeches one time and the instructor shouts, “I don’t need to use the mic. You can all hear me, right?” (No, no we can’t, but you don’t care…)
What’s sad is that this is normal for us. We are highly trained professionals that are required to do continuing education. I think you deserve a better learning experience.
Upcoming Trainings
Rooted in Healing: Intro to Horticultural Therapy for Mental Health Professionals
This course provides foundational, evidence-informed training to help clinicians learn how to use horticultural therapy (HT) as an intentional intervention during sessions. Learn about horticultural therapy and how simple it is to integrate into your therapy practice - no garden or green thumb required.
Expand Your Skills with Therapy Intensives
Everything from EMDR, IFS, couple’s therapy, ketamine assisted psychotherapy… If it’s an intervention - someone’s made it into an intensive. This training provides an overview of intensives and various intensive models, necessary clinical considerations for intensives, and best practices for adding intensives or extended sessions into your practice.
Learn from someone who understands training
I have years of experience as a clinician and have advanced credentials, including being a Certified Group Psychotherapist. But more importantly, I have a background in corporate training, professional development, and group facilitation. My experience includes:
Providing training-for-trainers a Global Professional Instructor with Crisis Prevention Institute
Teaching a five-day deescalation and non-violent communication training to SEPTA bus & trolly operators and regional rail conductors
Facilitating anti-racism interventionist trainings
Co-facilitating “bedside manner” skills to physical therapy and physician assistant students.
Presenting at conferences including:
Institute on Violence, Abuse & Trauma’s Hawaii Summit on horticultural therapy for trauma recovery

Won’t it be nice to look forward to a training?
